Job Summary:

Under the direction of the O&M Supervisor incumbent is responsible for handling routine maintenance and repairs on Plant facilities and equipment, perform tasks in accordance with the Plant Maintenance Program and associated maintenance and repair procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

Health and safety

 

  • All positions must have a strong working knowledge of the ContourGlobal Health & Safety Management System and its respective safe work practices, i.e., Permit to Work, Management of Change, Contractor Safety etc.
  • They must coach and mentor facility employee through engagement on proper safety behaviors, use of the ContourGlobal Management System and its respective expectations and through on-going participation of in Health & Safety activities i.e., inspection, incident investigation and visible felt leadership.
  • Verify job tasks are adequately reviewed prior to initiating work and when changes occur in the work environment or tasks requirements.
  • Ensure all Incidents and potential adverse events (i.e., Near Misses) are quickly communicated to Plant leadership and Health & Safety site/regional support.

Main Duties

  • Tests, maintains and/or troubleshoots (with appropriate test equipment) rotating equipment and associated devices utilizing schematics, vendor manuals and procedures.
  • Participates in process/procedure development.
  • Function as a primary resource for rotating equipment related problems.
  • Assists other technicians and operations staff when necessary and supports efficient effective teamwork in the performance of duties.
  • Provides accurate detailed work history for reporting routine functions and provides training to other technicians.
  • Participates in and implements safety programs to minimize personal injury and property loss.
  • Participates in the Plant's Preventive Maintenance Program by performing routine maintenance duties.
  • Collect and Trend equipment maintenance history information.
  • Track spare parts and assist in physical inventories.
  • Set up and operate machine shop tools for various machine work tasks.
  •  Inspect and repair turbines, heat exchangers, pumps, fans, and similar equipment.
  • Assemble and repair tubing, piping, valves and fittings subjected to both high and low temperature or high and low pressure.
  • Assemble, disassemble, repair and adjust various types of electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Complete other tasks as requested by the Operations & Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Responsible for the safe operation of company owned vehicles.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Appropriate technical schooling with a minimum of four years’ experience in process maintenance activities.
  • Ability to utilize technical manuals in the repair of equipment.
  • Must have a knowledge of mechanical theory and principles, test equipment usage, common and special mechanical tools, safety and good work practices and techniques.
  • Driving on company business is a requirement of this position and as such, the incumbent shall have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Performs repetitive and non-repetitive physical duties requiring lifting, pushing, pulling, stretching, bending, climbing, working in awkward positions and lifting of up to 50 lbs. Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g. hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves and medium voltage protective equipment, etc.). 
  • Work with hazardous materials may be required.
  • Position requires extended working hours and varied shifts with the possibility of weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules, work load and Plant conditions. "On call" status will periodically be required.

Travel Requirements – This position will require occasional business trips.
