Job Summary:

The Plant Engineer’s key responsibilities are focused on implementing and maintaining North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) activities for the plant. This position, also, provides core support in these areas to the Plant management. Reports to the Plant Manager and provides guidance and support to the maintenance personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintains and updates Plant’s NERC, within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), as required. Ensures engineering library has complete electronic and hardcopy reports, for historical use.
  • Reviews all major maintenance expenditures within budget guidelines, to ensure continued compliance with NERC requirements; and identifies potential issues, concerning insurance; Community Relations; and business continuity.
  • Provide relevant inputs to the budgetary process, for the necessary improvements for NERC compliance, as required.
  • Provide necessary technical support for all related NERC specifications, evaluation of vendor/contractor bid proposals, and monitoring contractor work performance, to ensure contract compliance.
  • Provide NERC direction, to Operations & Management employees.
  • Participates in Plant emergency response programs.
  • Review, plan, develop, and execute annual outage schedules, to reflect original equipment manufacturer, and Plant-required tasks.
  • Provide task lists and schedules for plant maintenance and contractor personnel for normal operating periods, planned outage periods, and forced outage situations.
  • Implement the plant's preventive and predictive maintenance program, including equipment failure records, and provide trend information to the Plant Manager.
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair activities.
  • Maintain the plant's Maintenance Manual and assure that vendor maintenance and repair manuals are properly filed and kept up-to-date.
  • Complete other tasks as requested by the Plant Manager.
  • Review Work Orders for completeness and accuracy. Ensure that Work Orders are properly entered and closed, in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Coordinates and drives implementation of new plant projects and initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or equivalent required.
  • 5+ years of power plant or similar experience required.
  • Power generation or continuous manufacturing experience highly desired.
  • Strong electrical and microprocessor-based control background, strong rotating equipment experience and an ability to use personal computer based preventive and predictive maintenance tools desired.
  • At least 2 years’ experience supervising technical, supervisory, and administrative personnel required.
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills required.
  • Physical requirements include the possibility of standing on feet for extended periods, requiring stair and ladder climbing, and routinely lifting up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g., hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, and high-voltage protective equipment, etc.).
  • Work with hazardous materials may be required.

Position requires extended working hours and varied shifts, with weekend and holiday work; as required by schedules, workloads, and Plant conditions. "On-Call" status will periodically be required.

 

Travel Requirements – This position will require occasional business trips.
