Job Summary:

As the Control Room Operator, you are responsible for continuously monitoring and controlling all power plant systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. You will respond to alarms and abnormal operating conditions by taking timely corrective actions and execute plant start-ups and shut-downs as required. This role also supports maintenance activities as directed by the Plant Manager and Operations Manager while ensuring compliance with environmental, regulatory, and safety standards to meet the facility’s generating requirements. Key Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for:

• Maintaining compliance with ContourGlobal’s Health & Safety Management System and safe work practices including Permit to Work, Management of Change, and Contractor Safety.
• Demonstrating strong safety leadership by promoting hazard awareness, proper job planning, and safe behaviors.
• Reporting unsafe conditions, hazards, incidents, and near misses immediately to leadership and HSE support.
• Participating in HSE initiatives including inspections, incident investigations, and safety improvements.
• Monitoring and controlling plant equipment and systems to maintain safe, reliable, and efficient generation.
• Completing operational logs, shift documentation, and performance data accurately and on time.
• Reviewing logs, equipment status, and procedural adherence to ensure system integrity and compliance.
• Supporting maintenance activities by executing lock-out/tag-out, identifying equipment needs, and troubleshooting operational issues.
• Updating and maintaining accurate operating procedures, drawings, and technical documentation.
• Supporting regulatory compliance and contributing to audit readiness and documentation accuracy.
• Identifying operational inefficiencies and recommending improvements to reliability and performance.
• Applying continuous improvement practices to reduce alarm frequency, optimize operations, and enhance safety.
• Aligning actions and behaviors with ContourGlobal’s values including safety first, transparency, communication, collaboration, and coordination.
• Performing additional responsibilities as assigned to ensure safe and reliable plant operations.

Qualifications and Skills:

Your profile is a natural match if you have:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate Degree in a technical field preferred.
• Experience as a Control Room Operator or similar role in power generation required.
• Knowledge of combined-cycle or large-frame turbine operations strongly preferred.
• Experience with water chemistry, environmental compliance, and hazardous materials handling desirable.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, system diagrams, and control system data preferred.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to respond effectively to abnormal conditions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
• Ability to climb ladders/stairs, stand for long periods, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Participation in Fitness-for-Duty and drug/alcohol screening programs required.
• Team player with excellent interpersonal and relationship skills
• Customer orientation towards internal organizational units
• Excellent communication and listening skills
• Fluency in English
