Job Summary
As Construction Project Manager, you will join our U.S. Construction team! In this role, you will report to the Senior Project Manager and will have the opportunity to lead the delivery of utility-scale solar projects from groundbreaking through energization. You will serve as the Owner’s representative on site and drive all aspects of project execution including safety, schedule, cost, quality, and contractor performance across greenfield developments and repowering initiatives. Join us to drive the right power forward and make clean energy the natural choice for all!
Key Responsibilities:
Project Delivery & Controls
-
Lead end-to-end construction management for utility-scale solar projects, including greenfield developments and repowering programs.
-
Develop, maintain, and enforce detailed project plans covering scope, schedule, budget, procurement, and risk.
-
Own the project assumption book from development handoff through final completion and COD.
-
Drive proactive identification and resolution of scope, schedule, and cost risks before they become claims.
-
Manage change order processes rigorously — evaluate, negotiate, and approve or reject contractor requests with full documentation.
-
Ensure owner-furnished equipment is procured, delivered, and accepted on schedule to avoid contractor delay claims.
Contractor & Stakeholder Management
-
Hold regular progress meetings; monitor, measure, and report GC performance against baseline schedule and budget.
-
Coordinate with PMO, Contract Managers, and internal support functions to align on reporting, issues, and escalations.
-
Support the development-to-execution transition, including permitting, detailed design reviews, and contract negotiations as needed.
-
Prepare and submit high-quality weekly, monthly, and milestone reports that give Senior Management clear visibility into project health.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
-
Champion a zero-incident safety culture — enforce compliance with HSSEQ standards, site safe-work procedures, and all applicable regulations.
-
Monitor GC and subcontractor adherence to Health & Safety policies; escalate and correct non-conformances immediately.
-
Drive quality assurance and quality control throughout construction; ensure work meets design specifications and corporate standards.
-
Identify design and construction elements likely to generate disputes; intervene early to protect project outcomes.
Financial Management
-
Own project cost management: track actuals vs. budget, manage cash flow forecasts, and review and approve contractor invoices.
-
Develop and implement contingency plans to recover cost or schedule slippage in collaboration with Senior Project Management.
-
Ensure all site staff fully understand project costs, funding requirements, and financial implications of scope changes.
Qualifications and Skills:
Your profile is a natural match if you have:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
-
5 years of engineering and construction experience, with a minimum of 5 years managing utility-scale solar PV projects from NTP through COD.
-
Proven track record managing EPC contracts on projects exceeding $50M in construction value.
-
Deep knowledge of solar PV systems, including civil/structural, electrical, and SCADA/commissioning phases.
-
Strong command of project controls: scheduling (MS Project or Primavera P6), cost tracking, change management, and risk registers.
-
Demonstrated ability to manage and hold accountable large general contractors and multi-trade subcontractor teams.
-
Excellent communication skills — able to translate complex construction issues for senior leadership, lenders, and JV partners.
Skills:
-
Familiarity with BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) co-located projects preferred.
-
Familiarity with NERC, FERC, and utility interconnection requirements.
-
PMP, CCM, or equivalent project management certification preferred.
-
Prior experience with repowering or revamp projects on existing solar assets is a plus.
-
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage cross-functional site teams under pressure.
What drives your application forward:
-
Proven success delivering utility-scale solar PV projects from NTP through COD on time and within budget.
-
Strong technical expertise across EPC execution, project controls, commissioning, and contractor management.
-
Effective leader and communicator with the ability to drive accountability across cross-functional project teams and stakeholders.
