Contracts Management Lead
Houston – Hybrid or US Remote
Job Summary
As Contracts Management Lead, Renewable EPC, you will join our Construction team! In this role, you will report to the Senior Project Manager and will have the opportunity to manage the full lifecycle of contracts across renewable energy EPC projects, including utility-scale solar, wind, battery energy storage, and hybrid generation assets. You will partner closely with project management, engineering, procurement, legal, and executive leadership to ensure commercial rigor, contractual compliance, and effective risk management from pre-award through project closeout. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the drafting, review, redlining, and negotiation of EPC agreements, O&M contracts, LTSA agreements, supplier and subcontractor agreements, and NDAs.
- Support commercial structuring and contracting strategy for renewable EPC projects, ensuring alignment with technical, financial, and schedule requirements.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate contractual risks, inconsistencies, and ambiguities in partnership with legal, procurement, and engineering teams.
- Manage the full contract lifecycle, including execution, amendments, change orders, claims, waivers, and closeout documentation.
- Establish and maintain contract records, dashboards, compliance trackers, and audit-ready contract repository.
- Monitor and report on contractual performance requirements, milestones, deliverables, and compliance obligations.
- Assess and validate change order requests, including cost impacts, schedule implications, and entitlement.
- Manage claims and disputes by gathering documentation, performing impact analysis, and supporting negotiation and resolution strategies.
- Partner with project controls to ensure accurate forecasting and visibility of commercial exposure.
- Ensure compliance with internal corporate policies, insurance requirements, and applicable regulatory mandates.
- Coordinate with HSE, engineering, risk management, and finance teams to ensure contractual compliance throughout project execution.
- Support internal and external audits related to EPC and commercial agreements.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for contractual matters with EPC contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Support project managers with contract administration, interpretation, and resolution of commercial issues.
- Prepare contract summaries, risk assessments, and executive-level briefings.
- Track and report key performance indicators, including change order frequency, claim resolution timelines, and contract compliance status.
Qualifications and Skills:
Your profile is a natural match if you have:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in the Power Generation or Industrial Processing sector, with a specific focus on plant performance or systems engineering.
- Travel requirements: This role will require occasional travel to plant sites for system implementation or training.
Skills:
- Demonstrated experience negotiating complex EPC, construction, and supplier contracts for utility-scale solar, wind, and energy storage projects.
- Strong understanding of commercial risk, cost controls, scheduling, and project management fundamentals.
- Proven expertise in reviewing, redlining, and negotiating large-scale EPC and commercial agreements.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to assess contractual exposure and recommend effective risk mitigation strategies.
- Proficiency with contract lifecycle management systems, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong negotiation and stakeholder-management capabilities.
- Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, high-growth renewable energy environment.
What drives your application forward:
- Experience within an Independent Power Producer, utility, EPC contractor, or renewable energy developer.
- Familiarity with industry-standard contracting frameworks, including FIDIC, AIA, or similar.
- Understanding procurement processes and advanced commercial negotiation strategies.
- Working knowledge of permitting, interconnection, engineering deliverables, and construction execution for renewable energy projects.
