Job Summary:

In the role of HR Manager,  you will work closely with the Regional HR Manager and will be responsible for managing all operations related to HR activities at the plant level in compliance with legal requirements and the company policies and procedures. This include but are not limited to recruitment, onboarding, offboarding, ensuring data accuracy in the company HRIS, reporting, payroll, administrative management, employee relations, policy and procedure application, supporting performance management processes, talent review, managing social relations, and advising managers on HR policies and procedure application. you will collaborate closely with other departments to ensure that HR practices are aligned with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

As the HRM, your responsibilities include the following. Other related duties may be assigned as appropriate.

  • Ensure that the ContourGlobal (CG) Policies are fully understood and followed at the Power Plant (including CG Essential information _ Company Values, Anti-Corruption, Supplier Code of Conduct, Health Safety & Environment, obligations to local communities, etc)
  • Ensure the Health, Safety & Environmental obligations with respect to ContourGlobal Policies, Lenders & other legislations (locally or regionally) are strictly followed and are timely reported.
  • Be a project sponsor/leader in corporate social responsibility activities undertaking by CG & Kivuwatt Ltd
  • Provide recruitment support to business leaders: Analyse recruitment needs, review job descriptions, source recruitment firms, draft selection tools with managers and supervisors, negotiate and execute search agreements, provide compensation guidance, draft offer letters and contracts when required.
  • On board and orient new staff: make sure they are all familiar with company policies, organize intergration process and follow up probation periods with managers.
  • Support managers in defining & implementing training & development objectives for their team members.
  • Source training firms, negotiate and execute training agreements.
  • File employee management follow-up and update Employee’s documents completed and archived in soft copy.
  • Manage leave protocol, travels, vacation forms & approval (Company procedures adapted)
  • Prepare administrative documents; offer letters, contracts and all related documents for the new hires.
  • Process payroll and all activities related to compensation.
  • Manage and coordinate the performance management process with hiring managers.
  • Follow up individual development plans and HyPo/HyPers programs
  • Introduce a succession & talent management plan.
  • Ensure working conditions are compliant with Rwanda labor law and contourglobal standards.
  • Liaise with HSE department and plant directors to ensure safe working conditions in the plant.
  • Overseeing heath and safety of all employees
  • Creating and revising job descriptions with the support of line manager
  • Maintaining and revising the company’s handbook on policies and procedures
  • Performing benefits administration.
  • Overseeing recruitment efforts for all personnel, including writing and placing job ads
  • Conducting new employee orientations and employee relations counseling
  • Overseeing exit interviews
  • Maintaining department records and reports
  • Participating in administrative staff meetings
  • Maintaining company directory and other organizational charts.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resource or equivalent
  • Additional training/certification/
  • Minimum 5 years' + experience in a related field
  • Good level (written and spoken) in English 
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office products 
  • Skills 
  • Familiarize with CG health and safety standards and the ability to enforce company HSE standards as well as environmental management plans as required, providing a safe and healthy work site 
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized 
  • Ability to meet a constant stream of deadlines 
  • Leadership skills with the ability to delegate, motivate and inspire team members 
  • Keep excellent relationship with local community and authorities 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to utilize 3Cs
