Job Summary

The Maintenance Mechanical Assistant supports the maintenance and reliability of mechanical equipment and systems by assisting with routine inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and corrective repair activities. The role contributes to safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations in accordance with established procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities:

In his quality of Mechanical Maintenance Assistant, the Employee shall have the following responsibilities

  • Assist in the inspection, servicing, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical equipment, including pumps, compressors, valves, turbines, gearboxes, piping systems, and associated mechanical components.
  • Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities to minimize equipment downtime and maintain operational reliability.
  • Participate in planned maintenance activities, including shutdowns, overhauls, installations, commissioning, and emergency repairs, as required.
  • Perform basic fault identification and condition monitoring, and report abnormalities, defects, or safety concerns to supervisors.
  • Conduct routine lubrication, cleaning, alignment support, and minor mechanical adjustments in accordance with approved procedures and maintenance schedules.
  • Assist with fabrication, repair, and modification of mechanical parts, piping, and metal structures.
  • Perform basic welding activities (e.g., arc welding, gas welding) under supervision, including preparation of materials through cutting, grinding, and surface preparation.
  • Carry out visual inspection of welded joints and report any defects or non‑conformities.
  • Assist in pipe repairs, structural reinforcement works, and equipment modifications as instructed.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, logs, and checklists in accordance with departmental and regulatory requirements, including use of CMMS where applicable.
  • Assist in the erection, inspection, modification, and dismantling of scaffolding in accordance with approved designs, load limits, and safety standards.
  • Ensure scaffolding is properly tagged, safe access is maintained, and any unsafe conditions are promptly reported.
  • Comply with all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies, permit‑to‑work systems, and safe working practices at all times.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by your supervisor

 

 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 1–3 years of experience in mechanical maintenance in an industrial or power plant environment
  • Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of scaffolding safety standards and procedures
  • Ability to work at heights and in physically demanding conditions
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and adherence to safety practices
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to utilize 3Cs
  • Familiar with CG health and safety standards and the ability to enforce company HSE standards as well as environmental management plans as required providing a safe and healthy work site
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, Power Point, MS Teams
  • Good level (written and spoken) in English
