Job Summary
The Finance Intern will support the Finance and Treasury functions in managing the company’s daily cash management, payment processing, banking activities, and financial records. The internship will provide practical exposure to treasury operations and enable the Intern to apply academic knowledge in a professional business environment.
Key Responsibilities:
In his quality of Finance Intern, the Employee shall have the following responsibilities:
- Ensure that the Contourglobal (CG) Policies are fully understood and followed at the Power Plant (including CG Essential information, Company Values, Anti-Corruption, Supplier Code of Conduct, Health Safety & Environment, obligations to local communities, etc)
- Ensure respect of Contourglobal and KivuWatt information confidentiality obligations
- Monitor daily cash positions and assist in ensuring adequate liquidity to support the company’s operational requirements.
- Forecast short- and long-term cash flow needs and provide visibility on cash requirements
- Prepare and submit payment lists for approval; process payment runs in coordination with the Accounts Payable function to ensure payment information is complete and accurate.
- Follow up to ensure all payments are successfully executed and settled by the bank.
- Maintain effective relationships with banks and financial institutions and ensure compliance with KYC and account management requirements.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly treasury reports, including cash positions.
- Provide the Finance Manager with insights and analysis to support decision making on liquidity and cash management.
- Negotiate with banking partners to secure competitive foreign exchange rates and ensure FX transactions are executed at optimal market rates.
- Maintain and reconcile petty cash, ensuring that transactions are properly supported, approved, recorded, and in compliance with internal controls.
- Post bank transactions in SAP accurately and on a timely basis using the appropriate transaction codes and established workflows and perform bank reconciliations for all bank accounts by following up on outstanding or reconciling items to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Record and clear customer cash receipts in SAP on a timely and accurate basis, ensuring all receipts are properly recorded, and the customer account is reconciled.
- Ensure compliance with internal audit standards, treasury policies and applicable regulations.
- All other tasks as requested by employee’s supervisor and/or the Finance Manager.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
- A professional accounting certification (ACCA, CPA) is strongly preferred
- Proficiency in Excel and other MS Office applications.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments.
- Sense of confidentiality, ethics, and compliance.
