Plant Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

The Plant Manager will be responsible for managing the operation, maintenance, safety, and environmental compliance of the Bonaire wind-diesel-battery integrated power plant, which produces simultaneously electricity by wind turbines and diesel engines.

The position is based in Bonaire Island.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Operation and Maintenance - ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operation across all shifts.

• Responsible for keeping a healthy and safe environment in accordance with ContourGlobal standards, ensuring proper housekeeping and cleanliness in the plant
• Maintaining a high level! of employee morale, discipline and safety standards
• In conjunction with the Human Resources department, responsible for all aspects of staff management including performance reviews and goal setting, disciplinary action, train1ng & development, employee relations and hiring
• Optimization of fixed operating costs
• Monitoring and operation of MAN 9l 2/ /38 HFO/l.FO engines
• Monitoring and operation of a windmill composed by 12 ENEHCON turbines E44 and 1 Enercon Turbine E33
• Monitoring and operation of battery units
• Monitoring and operation of 3 back up Engines Cummins
• Monitoringand operation of all equipment, auxiliaries, fuel treatment, cooling system, air compressed and firefighting system
• Making decisions related to plant loads and operational regimes according to the relevant standard operating rule, to maximize the plant's energy efficiency
• Monitoring and compliance with the Environmental limits
• Maintaining accurate electronic and paper records to comply with the company's interna! standards rules and regulations
• Ensuring timely and regular renewals and up-dates of the key operating permits
• Ensuring timely and high-quality reporting, in line with company principles and schedules

2. Maintenance planned and emergent.

• Elaboration and implementation of annual maintenance plans and optimization of fixed
• operating costs
• Identification and correction of simple malfunctions of the Hybrid power plant
• Performance of planned and corrective maintenance on the engines according to MAN/Cummins maintenance schedule and internal procedures.
• Performance of first front preventive and corrective maintenance of Enercon wind turbines
• according with the LTSA agreement
• Performance of similar inspections and planned and corrective maintenance on other equipment, auxiliaries, fuel treatment, cooling system, air compressor and firefighting system
• Overseeing all aspects of site maintenance according with the supplier manuals, internal procedures, regulations, other complementary documents
• Contractor management to ensure safety and high quality
• Definition and replenishment of the emergency spare parts stocks

3. Commercial performance.

• Clear understanding of the key drivers of the plant's commercial performance, both internal and external market and regulatory driven
• Verification and validation of data support of invoices to the client, prepared by the company’s financial teams, as well as invoices related to diesel supply
• Optimization of the plant's operating regimes (through the support of the financial function of the business) to maximize variable profit, while operating to try highest levels of availability, safety, and environmental standards
• Elaboration of annual budgets, optimizing the fixed and variable operating costs

4. Client relationship management.

• Maintaining a productive continuous communication and relationship with the operating personnel and management of the client (WEB Bonaire), promptly addressing their needs and concerns and driving performance improvements at the operational interface with the client’s distribution business unit

5. Continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.

• Identification and initiation of operational improvements and innovations that will enhance plant safety and reliability, work productivity, cost reduction, and overall quality
• Knowledge sharing with the company’s other thermal plants

QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS:

• Relevant educational background and 3+ years’ experience in the similar role
• Strong communication skills required for a highly matrix organization
• Ability to work with remote teams and effectively communicate and collaborate with remote teams
• Highest level of ethics and personal responsibility

• High degree of comfort performing root cause analysis and examining failures and reporting

This position reports hierarchically to the COO US & The Caribbean.
