The PMO Leader will be responsible for establishing and overseeing the company’s Project Management Office (PMO) structure. The primary focus will be on standardizing project delivery processes, enhancing corporate governance, and enabling effective management across projects, programs, and portfolios.

This role plays a key strategic function in ensuring that project execution aligns with corporate goals and operational capacity. The PMO Leader will actively guide the execution of strategic initiatives, driving operational excellence and supporting decision-making across the organization. The role requires close coordination with the Engineering, Construction, Business Development (BD), and Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) teams to manage complex, parallel demands and ensure cross-functional alignment.

The position will be responsible for developing and managing the three levels of PMO control:

  • Directive PMO – Full responsibility for project execution and decision-making authority.

  • Controlling PMO – Oversight of project methodologies, compliance, and process control.

  • Supportive PMO – Provision of tools, guidance, training, and best practices to engineering and construction teams.

The PMO Leader will be instrumental in implementing best-in-class project management strategies to support a diverse and growing portfolio of global energy projects.

This position reports directly to the Global Head of Engineering & Construction

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and strategically manage the PMO, overseeing Directive, Controlling, and Supportive PMO functions to enhance governance and standardize project execution practices across the company.
  • Develop and continuously optimize project management methodologies, procedures, templates, tools, and systems.
  • Directly oversee critical or strategic projects as necessary, ensuring alignment with company objectives, quality standards, timelines, and budget constraints.
  • Coordinate across Engineering and Construction teams to ensure seamless integration of PMO practices and governance, providing timely reports and insights to Senior Management.
  • Implement robust control systems for planning, cost management, scheduling, resource allocation, risk management, and scope control.
  • Provide expert guidance on structuring budgets (CAPEX/OPEX), ensuring cost-effectiveness and financial transparency.
  • Collaborate closely with BD and M&A teams to effectively manage resources, prioritizing strategic initiatives amidst multiple concurrent demands.
  • Mentor and lead the existing PMO team, proactively identifying areas for restructuring or enhancement of the PMO to achieve optimal efficiency.
  • Regularly communicate with internal and external stakeholders, establishing clear communication channels and protocols.
  • Prepare and deliver periodic and ad-hoc performance reports, maintaining transparency on project progression, risks, and corrective measures.
  • Travel occasionally to support global project teams and corporate initiatives.
  • Define and implement a robust PMO structure, integrating governance frameworks to enhance efficiency in project, program, and portfolio management.
  • Develop and enforce standardized project management methodologies, tools, and best practices aligned with industry standards.
  • Establish clear guidelines for budget structuring, CAPEX and OPEX management, ensuring financial discipline across all projects.
  • Monitor planning, scheduling, and cost control, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and financial expectations.
  • Coordinate with Business Development (BD) and Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) teams to balance project feasibility with corporate growth strategies.
  • Provide strategic planning and resource management to optimize parallel project execution under high demand.
  • Implement performance monitoring mechanisms, ensuring KPIs and milestones are met efficiently.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Operations teams to drive seamless project execution.
  • Lead risk management processes, ensuring proactive identification and mitigation of challenges affecting schedules, costs, or quality, while ensuring that Project Managers conduct thorough risk evaluations following ContourGlobal's methodology.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, digital transformation, and innovation, leveraging AI and advanced project management tools.
  • Ensure global compliance with HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality) standards, promoting a culture of safety and sustainability.

 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Business Management, Project Management, or a closely related field.
  • Extensive professional experience (12+ years) managing PMO structures or Project Management teams, preferably in renewable energy sectors such as Photovoltaic, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and Wind generation.
  • Proven proficiency in PMBOK methodologies and familiarity with project management frameworks. Professional certifications (PMP, PMI-ACP, Prince2, or equivalent) will be evaluated and highly valued.
  • Demonstrated ability in analytical skills, with robust experience in project planning, scheduling, and engineering oversight.
  • Proficiency in project planning, cost control, and scheduling tools (Primavera P6, MS Project, etc.).
  • Proven experience managing comprehensive budgeting, cost control, CAPEX and OPEX structures.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and proven capability to handle simultaneous, high-priority demands effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills, capable of influencing cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Fluent English (written and spoken) is mandatory; additional languages are advantageous.
  • Availability for international travel to oversee global project operations and governance adherence.
  • Proven ability to manage high-pressure demands from BD and M&A stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
