The Senior Engineering Manager will lead and coordinate engineering teams to ensure the successful planning, design, and implementation of renewable energy projects. This role requires a highly experienced professional with a strong background in engineering leadership, project management, and technical excellence in renewable energy. The ideal candidate must have excellent analytical skills, be capable of managing multiple engineering projects simultaneously, and provide strategic technical support to the Business Development (BD) and Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) teams.

Reporting directly to the Head of Engineering & Construction, this role involves close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to align engineering efforts with the company’s objectives and industry best practices.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Engineering Leadership & Team Management:

  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary engineering team, fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and collaboration.
  • Define team roles and responsibilities to enhance efficiency and optimize engineering workflows.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions across multiple renewable energy projects.
  • Provide guidance and technical challenges to teams handling complex engineering demands from BD and M&A activities.

 

2. Project Execution & Technical Oversight:

  • Oversee the design, evaluation, and implementation of PV, BESS, and Wind energy projects, with a primary focus on managing the engineering processes throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables comply with company standards, industry regulations, and technical best practices.
  • Develop and maintain planning and control mechanisms to manage parallel engineering demands efficiently.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate technical risks during project development and execution.
  • Oversee the correct document management processes, ensuring that all documentation workflows align with quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) standards to maintain consistency and compliance.

 

3. Business Development & M&A Support:

  • Conduct technical due diligence and engineering assessments for BD and M&A opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to evaluate project feasibility, optimize designs, and ensure cost efficiency.
  • Act as the primary technical advisor for assessing potential acquisitions, partnerships, and new assets.
  • Facilitate the seamless technical integration of newly acquired assets into the company’s portfolio.

 

4. Compliance, Risk Management & Innovation:

  • Ensure full compliance with local and international regulatory standards.
  • Establish and enforce HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality) standards in engineering operations.
  • Drive continuous process improvement and technological innovation within the engineering function.
  • Stay updated with emerging trends in renewable energy and industry best practices.

 

5. Stakeholder Management & Reporting:

  • Coordinate effectively with internal departments, contractors, and external stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of projects.
  • Prepare and present technical reports to senior management and external partners.
  • Maintain regular reporting on engineering performance, project status, and key technical indicators.

 

Qualifications & Skills:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or related field) is required.
  • A Master’s degree or specialization in renewable energy, project management, or business administration is highly recommended.

Experience:

  • 12+ years of experience in engineering management, with a strong emphasis on renewable energy projects.
  • Proven track record in leading engineering teams and addressing technical challenges in PV, BESS, and Wind energy projects.
  • Strong project planning and control skills to manage multiple complex engineering demands simultaneously.
  • Experience in supporting BD and M&A teams with high-level technical analysis and recommendations.

 

Technical & Analytical Skills:

  • Expertise in renewable energy project design, feasibility analysis, and execution.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, applying a data-driven decision-making approach.
  • Proficiency in engineering software, project management tools, and industry regulations.

 

Communication & Language:

  • Fluent in English (mandatory); proficiency in Spanish is a strong advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills for presenting technical information to global stakeholders.

 

Leadership & Global Mobility:

  • Strong leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage and execute multiple engineering functions under tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel internationally for project support, site visits, and strategic meetings.
