Job Summary

As a Junior Power Market Operations Analyst Italy, the candidate will report directly to the Head of Energy Management Italy. The role involves supporting energy asset operations in Italy, with a focus on short term energy management, contract management, settlements, reporting, regulatory analysis, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth operational and commercial performance. The candidate will contribute to maintaining accurate processes and fostering alignment between internal stakeholders and external partners.


Key Responsibilities

  • Short Term Energy Management:
    • Provide support for all activities related to the scheduling, availability control, bidding, and dispatching of power generation assets across the day-ahead, within-day, balancing, and ancillary services markets in Italy. Ensure the optimized performance of scheduling agents and route-to-market service providers in compliance with Italian market rules and the grid code.
  • Settlement Management:
    • Review and verify settlements to ensure compliance with Italian regulatory standards and incentive schemes.
    • Monitor monthly settlements for all plants, identify irregularities, and coordinate claims when required.
    • Working closely with the Asset Management team, issues the Guarantees of Origin and ensure their correct transfer in compliance with existing contracts.
  • Metering Oversight:
    • Work with external service providers to manage CG-owned metering systems and coordinate with the DSO to review merchant meters, ensuring accurate data collection for settlements in line with production levels.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Reporting:
    • Maintain a deep understanding of ARERA regulations, interpreting their implications for energy operations and ensuring their effective application across processes.
    • Manage Gaudì portal by maintaining it updated in accordance with the actual status of the assets in operation.
    • Manage REMIT reporting obligations, ensuring full compliance with the regulation and its transposition into Italian law.
    • Prepare and submit reports to the appropriate authorities in line with local requirements, including timely updates to REMIT data where necessary.

 

  • Contract Management:
    • Provide operational support for long-term and short-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), acting as the primary point of contact management and for administrative procedures.
  • Reporting:
    • Prepare mandatory reports under PPA agreements, including measurement and outage reports, ensuring they align with both regulatory and contractual requirements.
  • Operational Collaboration:
    • Work closely with the Operations Department to maintain and improve measurement systems, ensuring data accuracy and operational efficiency.
  • Ad Hoc Projects:
    • Support the development of innovative solutions, regulatory analyses, and stakeholder requests to enhance portfolio performance and ensure regulatory alignment.

Qualifications and Skills

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • A Master’s degree in Renewable Energy or Energy Economics is a plus.

Experience

  • 1-3 years of experience in energy management, settlements, or energy contract management.
  • Knowledge of Italian energy markets, including experience with power dispatch is desirable
  • Experience with GSE operations is highly desirable.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Italian energy regulations, with the ability to interpret and apply them effectively to energy operations and settlements.
  • Familiarity with REMIT obligations, including the transposition of REMIT regulations into Italian law and compliance with local requirements.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with data analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with GSE, GME, and TERNA platforms, as well as reporting frameworks used in the Italian energy market.

Languages

  • Native Italian speaker, with advanced proficiency in English.
  • Spanish is considered an additional asset.
