The Maintenance Manager position is based in Bonaire and will report directly to the Plant Manager.

 

The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for managing the maintenance of the Bonaire solar-wind-liquid fuel-battery integrated power plant, which produce simultaneously electricity using solar park, wind turbines, diesel/HFO engines and batteries/inverters. Specifically, the Maintenance Manager will be responsible for:

 

Leadership and business unit management – ensure safe, reliable, and energy-efficient plant operations & maintenance,

  • Ensure that the ContourGlobal (CG) Policies are fully understood and followed at the Bonaire facilities (including CG Essential information _ Company Values, Anti-Corruption, Supplier Code of Conduct, Health Safety & Environment, obligations to local communities, etc)
  • Ensure the Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) obligations with respect to ContourGlobal Policies, Lenders & other legislations (locally or regionally) are strictly followed and are timely reported.
  • A close follow-up of Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) activities on sites with respect to Power Plant Activities. Additionally, ensuring that the main procedures and plans are duly implemented and followed (example: JSEA, Lock-Out/Tag-out & work permit procedures are being respected; Safety rules are being respected _ correct wearing of PPEs, site access control, vehicle management, incident reporting etc; HSE site and work inspections are being done (including inspection level 1, 2 & 3, Visible Felt Leadership, etc as per CG policies)
  • Be active project sponsor/leader in corporate social responsibility activities undertaken by CG & Bonaire
  • Maintain a high level of employee morale, discipline and safety standards
  • In conjunction with the Human Resources department, be responsible for all aspects of staff management including performance reviews and goal settings, disciplinary actions, training & development, talent review, employee relations and hiring
  • Support the PM to develop and review the overall plant strategies (incl. O&M approach) and prepare the annual O&M plans
  • Support the PM to prepare the annual budget for the facilities. Closely monitor and optimize the fixed costs, CAPEX and other variable costs
  • Support the PM to develop the overall facilities annual objectives; develop and share the departmental objectives with the leaders and team members
  • Conduct performance appraisal reviews of CG Bonaire maintenance personnel; hold regular objectives/KPIs reviews with the site leaders and COO/CFO regional
  • Support the PM in discussions with Union (if any) and CG Bonaire employee representatives
  • With the support of the local HR officer and the PM, ensure the CG Bonaire internal rules and regulations, local labor law, including the collective labor agreement are known and followed.

 

Operations – ensure reliable and energy-efficient CG Bonaire facilities operations

  • Close monitoring of the operating assets _ including the existing and future equipment
    • MAN 9L21 & MAN 9L32 engines running on dual fuel (HFO & LFO)
    • Cummins back-up engines,
    • Wind farm composed of Enercon turbines E44/E33,
    • Battery units and inverters
    • Solar Park
    • All other equipment, auxiliaries, water/oil/fuel treatment, cooling systems, compressed air systems, tank farm area, workshops, washing area, firefighting and detection systems, and other balance of plants
    • Other equipment following future expansions
  • Work closely with the operational teams for appropriate decision making related to plant loads and operational regimes according to the relevant standard operating rules for maximum plant energy efficiency & optimisation of equipment life.
  • Review and support in monitoring the compliances with the contractual operational and environmental obligations;
  • Main accurate electronic and appropriate paper record to comply with the company’s internal standard rules and regulations
  • Ensure a good understanding and close monitoring of the different operational technology in place, including the SCADA for the equipment etc. The operating systems including GEMs (Wartsila for the micro grid management), Powerhouse (for the MAN engines and systems), Iltekno (local control system), Retina (for Wind management), Enercon system etc

 

Maintenance - planned & unplanned and emergent

  • Elaborate a maintenance strategy and implementation of annual maintenance plans to ensure safe & reliable operation and work towards continual the O&M fixed costs optimisation
  • Prepare and ensure reliable/timely/effective execution of planned and unplanned maintenance for:
    • MAN, Cummins, Mitsubishi etc. engines,
    • Wind turbines (Enercon etc.),
    • Battery and inverter system
    • Solar Park
    • All auxiliary equipment installed at Bonaire facilities
    • Facility buildings.
  • Implement and lead the maintenance management/asset management system. (C-Works or others)
  • Implement and monitor Inventory management System
  • Establish and implement Standard Maintenance procedures (SMPs) and ensure the SMPs stay up to date through regular reviews of bulletins and service letters from Manufacturers.
  • Establish, implement and manage all maintenance aspects of the Facilities using total quality management techniques, inclusive of Maintenance reporting, develop performance indicators and set up a regular reporting system; Develop maintenance philosophy (time vs. Condition based maintenance).
  • Define and ensure timely replenishment of tools and spares required for the Bonaire facilities. Additional to ensure proper application of tools management, usage of consumables and spare parts. Be responsible for the usage of materials and goods.
  • Take prompt remedial actions based on the information collected by the Operational team. Ensure that the data from the Power Plant SCADA are properly scrutinised prior or through interventions. Conducting a methodical failure analysis is crucial.
  • Ensure proper application of Contactor management to prompt safety and high quality of job execution from suppliers and service providers.
  • Communicate/Report effectively to the management condition of Facilities equipment and performance, provide suggestions for improvements. Additionally, ensure a harmonized and efficient communication within the maintenance team, among the maintenance team and the operational departments.

 

Commercial performance

  • Clear understanding of the key drivers of the plant’s commercial performance, both internal and external market and regulatory driven
  • Support the PM in the elaboration of annual budgets, optimising the fixed and variable costs
  • Work closely with the Procurement, Legal (internal and external) Compliance & Finance teams to:
    • Liaise with service providers and vendors effectively (while respecting the CG Supplier Code of Conduct)
    • Ensure spare parts & Tools/Services ordering to appropriate suppliers/manufacturers etc
    • Have timely delivery of spare parts & Tools/execution of services
    • Participate in quality of goods and services delivered
    • Support in preparing relevant spares or services agreements/memos etc

 

Client relationships management

  • Participate and support the PM in maintaining a productive, continuous communication and relationship with the operation personnel and management of the client (WEB Bonaire)

 

Continuous Improvement and knowledge sharing

  • Promote a transparent environment towards failures and ensure timely analysis with implementation of control measures and actions to prevent re-occurrences of such failures
  • Identification and initiation of operational improvements and innovations that will enhance plant safety and reliability, work productivity, cost reduction and overall quality
  • Ensure regular and timely knowledge sharing companywide and with other related business units
  • Perform personnel performance appraisals of team members. Prepare and lead the Training & development plan of the Operations & Maintenance Teams.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Engineering (mechanical) or equivalent to that degree
  • 10 Years' experience (at least 5 years’ experience in power Industry).
  • Supervisory level/Managerial level in regional power Plant
  • Good level (written and spoken) in English
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, Power Point & Adobe Pdf.
