Senior PV Specialist

Job Summary:

As Senior PV Specialist, you will join our Engineering and Construction team! In this role, you will report to our Head of Engineering and Construction and will have the opportunity to be a key technical reference within the Engineering team, focused on the design, specification, and development of industrial-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) power generation projects connected to transmission networks. This position plays a pivotal role throughout the conceptual, basic, and detailed engineering phases, ensuring full integration of electrical, mechanical, and control subsystems according to international standards and local regulations. A critical aspect of the role includes applying advanced technical criteria to evaluate, compare, and select photovoltaic modules and related technologies, including the ability to conceptualize and assess hybrid renewable energy solutions by integrating PV with BESS, wind, or other generation technologies. This ensures the optimal balance between performance, cost-efficiency, durability, and regulatory compliance in line with evolving market opportunities.

The Senior PV Specialist will provide technical support across project development, due diligence, and investment assessments, acting as an internal consultant and interface with third-party engineering, manufacturers, and EPC contractors. A systems-level approach and strong leadership in technical decision-making are essential to succeed in this role. Key Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for:

Project Development and Implementation:

  • Design utility-scale PV systems, including component selection, layout optimization, and integration with transmission networks, while applying advanced technical criteria to evaluate, compare, and select photovoltaic modules and related technologies.
  • Conceptualize and assess hybrid renewable energy solutions by integrating PV with BESS, wind, or other generation technologies
  • Conduct energy yield assessments using software such as PVsyst, Helioscope, PV case, and SAM.
  • Develop and validate electrical configurations including MV systems (overhead/underground), grounding, SCADA, inverters, trackers, and transformer stations.
  • Review and approve preliminary, basic, and detailed designs prepared by internal teams or third-party consultants.
  • Prepare technical specifications for the procurement of key electrical and mechanical components.
  • Ensure engineering documentation adheres to quality standards and supports traceability and project compliance.
  • Collaborate closely with the procurement function to evaluate supplier offers and ensure technical alignment.
  • Provide technical solutions during project construction to ensure compliance with design.

 

Project Evaluation and Technical Due Diligence:

  • Assess project feasibility from a technical perspective, supporting Business Development and M&A activities.
  • Conduct engineering reviews for greenfield and acquisition opportunities.
  • Evaluate interconnection studies and compliance with grid codes (e.g., NTSyCS, NERC).

 

Coordination and Teamwork:

  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities involving civil, electrical, and control systems.
  • Lead or participate in internal and external technical meetings with developers, OEMs, and EPC contractors.
  • Support the continuous improvement of engineering practices within the organization.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

Your profile is a natural match if you have:

 

Education: University degree in Electrical, Electromechanical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.

Experience: 10 to 12 years of experience in the electric power or energy generation sector. And a minimum of 6 years of experience in the design of utility-scale, grid-connected solar PV plants.

Skills: Fluent in English (spoken and written).  

  • Strong command of PV system design and integration at utility scale.
  • Expertise in MV design, SCADA, grounding, and power electronics.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software (e.g., PVsyst, AutoCAD, Helioscope, SAM, PVcase, Homer Pro).
  • Experience with Owner’s Engineering and EPC delivery models.

 

Travel requirements: This role requires frequent travel domestically and international. And flexiblility to participate in on-site reviews and headquarters-based engineering processes.

 

 

 

What drives your application forward:

  • Additional certifications in renewable energy, electrical design, or international standards (IEC, NFPA, NEC) are highly valued.
  • Proven technical leadership in multidisciplinary engineering environments.
  • International experience in the development and implementation of photovoltaic projects will be considered a strong asset.
  • Comfortable drafting technical documentation and leading discussions with international suppliers and consultants.
