JOB SUMMARY:
We are currently seeking for a highly-driven, legal professional for the position Legal Counsel to provide legal advice on corporate and project matters relating the Company, with a focus on developing greenfield PV and BESS facilities. This role supports the Senior Legal Counsel with regards to the activities on regulatory and corporate matters in cooperation other functions in ContourGlobal.
In addition, this role works closely with the Compliance function in ContourGlobal. The position will be based at ContourGlobal Maritsa East 3 office, Sofia, Bulgaria, reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide legal advice on all corporate and project matters, including management of external legal advisors where appropriate, with focus on the Business Development efforts of the Company.
- Draft and negotiate contracts and agreements compliant with applicable laws and company objectives.
- Provide assistance to the Senior Legal Counsel on preparing legal opinions, preparing legal strategies for developing new businesses and most effective ways of implementing them.
- Monitoring and ensuring compliance with the terms of the company’s existing permits and licenses and contractual commitments undertaken by the company, including proactively advising on the need of renewing or obtaining new permits in accordance with applicable law.
- Manage and resolve legal disputes arising from the operations of the company and the implementation of the contracts for maintenance of the Power Plant and other agreements the Company is a party to.
- Assists the Senior Legal Counsel in assessing the current regulatory framework in the country/region.
- Follows the development and assesses the status of the regulatory issues with the objective of creating a more complete regulatory framework and of providing the company with a fuller understanding of the regulations in force in the country.
- Participates in meetings or exchange of information with the regulatory authority and the other institutions involved in the regulatory process in Bulgaria.
- Monitor the legislation and inform about significant changes that are forthcoming and about their effect on the Company Business.
- Support the Senior Legal Counsel for the entities in the ContourGlobal group in Eastern Europe and Africa that are supervised by the Senior Legal Counsel, to ensure compliance with the Commercial laws and with ContourGlobal’s requirements for engagement with third-parties.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Master’s Degree in Law
- Strong English language skills are required
- Excellent knowledge of contracts and corporate law, of the legal and regulatory framework for development of a Renewable Energy Sources (RES) plants (PV / Wind, BESS)
- Knowledge of the Energy Act and the regulations related to the еlectricity system in Bulgaria is advantage
- Basic familiarity with the technical aspects of the power generation business
- Advanced Microsoft Office and PowerPoint skills
- Highest standards of accuracy and precision; highly organized
- Articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to roll-up sleeves and work with team members in a hands-on management capacity
- Intellectually curious and motivated by continuous improvement
- Min 3 years of legal experience at law firm or In-house counsel
- Experience in development or supporting operation of a RES project is a strong advantage
- Dealing with state and municipal authorities
- Previous exposure to international transactions, multi-national companies or companies in the energy sector is advantage
Travel Requirements - upon business needs
This position reports hierarchically to Senior Legal Counsel.
